Andrew Cheung has been Senior Counsel for Southern California Gas Company in the Commercial Section of the Legal Department since 2008. He negotiates and documents a wide variety of transactions in renewable and emerging technologies, clean transportation, energy efficiency, natural gas storage and transportation, supply management and procurement, external and governmental affairs, and real estate. His goal with every transaction is to ensure that the company receives what it expects and is protected from liability and to achieve those results in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Previously, he was Associate General Counsel at Los Angeles Unified School District where he worked on the legal issues related to maximizing renewable energy incentives and environmental attributes and reducing the District’s energy costs through strategic energy procurement. He also led an internal Steering Committee on sustainability issues, collaborated on initiatives to green the public schools, and worked with the State Legislature and the California Air Resources Board on legislation and regulations to increase incentives and reduce the cost of energy for school districts.
Prior to that, he focused on real estate transactions and land use issues as an attorney for Southern California Edison and an associate for Paul Hastings. Andrew graduated with his law degree from UCLA School of Law and his B.A. in Economics and East Asian Studies from Yale University. He was a mentee in the early years of the program and is now involved with the organization as both a mentor and Board Member.
