Gil Tam is a retired executive from Southern California Edison Company. Gil started his career with Edison in 1975 as an Assistant Plant Engineer at a power generating station. Over the course of 32 years, he progressed through several management positions and finally retired in September 2007. Gil is currently a Principle Consultant for Electric Power Group in Pasadena.
Gil graduated from California State University of Long Beach with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1974, and has retained a Professional Engineering License in the State of California since 1976.
Gil has provided career mentoring and coaching to young professionals as well as high school and college students for over 10 years.
Gil is an Elder at San Pedro Presbyterian Church and a volunteer mentor for the Penny Lane non-profit organization (a national foundation for the treatment of the emotionally handicapped). He was recognized as the “Youth Mentor of The Year” by Penny Lane in 2004. In his spare time, Gil also volunteers as an Assistant Coach for San Pedro High School’s JV basketball team.
