Tuesday, 3/16/21 - AAPA IdeaTalks with bamboo & glass - Navigating the workplace is hard, daunting even! What are some red/green flags to look out for, and once identified, how can you best advocate for yourself, your wellbeing, and your wants? Da Eun and Sophia, the co-hosts of bamboo & glass, are here to share their unfiltered experiences as they’ve navigated their respective workplaces early in their career as young Asian American women, and they hope to equip you with actionable steps you can take to feel empowered and in control of your career.

About Da Eun (she/her): I'm a Korean American storyteller, currently drawn to the medium of filmmaking and podcasting. I'm pursuing an MFA in Film & TV Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, while co-hosting and co-producing bamboo & glass. Before USC, I worked as a Software Engineer at Google, working on various products such as Jamboard, Google Slides, and Google Earth. My vision of an empowered & liberated world full of joy motivates me to continue unlearning definitions of success that have been taught to me and unearthing meaningful stories about the Asian American identity, diaspora, and multigenerational families.

About Sophia (she/her): As a PM on Flipgrid camera, I empower learners to share their voice and learn from others in video-based social learning communities. Outside work, I love sharing stories on bamboo & glass that expand the possibilities of who Asian Americans can choose to be in all aspects of life. I'm currently learning what questions I can ask myself to better understand and manage my stress, and I'm proud of my journey unlearning needing to be productive to be proud of myself.
