in solidarity against asian hate
The Asian American Professional Association (AAPA) stands with our entire family of AAPI colleagues, partners, and people of color everywhere who have experienced any form of hate or discrimination. We believe in the power of our combined voices, and we are proud to add ours to the call for action, peace, and understanding in the face of AAPI violence and racism. The egregious attacks on the most vulnerable members of our AAPI community have no place in what we all want to believe is a just and equal 21st-century society. AAPA stands in solidarity with the entire AAPI community to share our concern and heartache about current events.
Therefore, it is a timely moment to proudly share our organization’s updated vision and mission statement, as we believe it fully reflects our dedication to the goal of equity, growth, and recognition in this significant time of what we hope is a positive change.

In Solidarity with BLM
AAPA stands in solidarity with our Black communities in support of the fight for justice because All Black Lives Matter. We grieve with the families for the lives lost of George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbrey, Tony McDade, and all the names of the countless lives lost due to racial injustice and police brutality.
We understand that this may be a difficult time for some to navigate, given we are still in the midst of a pandemic. We can still take a stand now and show our support by elevating the voices of the Black community, by making donations to support the movement, by uplifting the Black community, and by supporting Black-owned businesses and enterprises.
AAPA recognizes the Black Lives Matter movement works towards freedom and justice for Black people, and by extension, all people including Asian Americans. We are actively working with other API (Asian/Pacific Islander) organizations to jointly call on elected officials and community leaders to take immediate action to address racial injustice and biases. AAPA has also made a donation to further support the Black Lives Matter (LA) network.
We, as a nonprofit organization serving the API community, will examine our own programs, leverage our networks and collaborate with our partners to take additional actions that will help to raise the awareness of this systemic issue. We will also provide relevant training to our community on how to face the challenges of social injustice. With these efforts, we commit to promoting the safety and equity of the Black American community, the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, and all other minority communities.
