UpLift Program
About the AAPA Uplift Program
The purpose of the AAPA Uplift Program is to recruit qualified applicants in underserved communities and prepare them through the application and hiring process. This is to ensure those who are most vulnerable and need the most assistance will be best prepared and given an equitable opportunity to land a well-paying job and a long-term career. In return, these great companies will be able to recruit qualified and devoted employees and help uplift the community, a win-win solution for the employer, the community, and a life-changing opportunity for the individual.
AAPA partnered with Southern California Edison and five other API nonprofits in May 2020 to launch a recruiting program of Energy Advisors that were bilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese, Cambodian, Korean, or Vietnamese. We recruited 67 applicants and 35 of them attended the AAPA resume writing and digital interview workshops in preparation for the hiring process.
This year, AAPA has partnered with The Southern California Gas Company and five other API nonprofits to launch a recruiting program of part-time customer service representatives that are bilingual in Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, or Vietnamese.
